Young Banaz Mahmod told UK cops that her family would kill her. They ignored her.
The 'honour killing' that made the UK realise it had a new immigration problem.
Instead of child and women abuse startling the world into angry, sad and (ultimately) happy action, we’ve gone the other way. Not enough people care, maybe too distracted by soccer, traffic, paying the mortgage, and useless, screaming politics.
I’ve no idea how to change that, but I’m going to recommend documentaries weekly for one year. Hopefully there’ll be viewers with empathy, and thus more alert to someone in their circle possibly needing help. Please share with teenagers.
I’m beginning with the tragic story of Banaz Mahmod that made me rage in every direction.
I remember this case….. i imagine this must be one of those “have a copy of bambi ready” documentaries…..
